When I go out of town without my daughter, I have always tried to make it as easy as possible on whoever is watching my child. I try to make sure there is plenty of food in the house, and I do as much school lunch prep as I can and make several meals that just need to be heated up.

I totally trust my relatives who are with her to watch out for my girl’s safety. However, watching out for her fashion sense-that’s another story! My husband has sent my child out in pajamas when she was too young to tell him they were pajamas. And as for the grandmothers-we’ll just say they have a more “free-spirit” type approach to fashion than I do. Let’s just leave it at that.

For those reasons, I almost always pick out my daughter’s outfits for the entire length of time I’m going to be gone and hang them with tags noting the day of the week. This keeps all the guesswork out for everyone!

Tip: I laminate them before I cut the holes out and use a dry erase marker to write which shoes go with each outfit too (no sandals on PE day!).
